Frank Sinatra and Louis Armstrong, The Birth of the Blues.

(I like this version, too, but unfortunately the video is a little messed up.)

Hugh Laurie, St. James Infirmary.

Madam Sarcastra mentioned this song earlier in the thread, but she was looking for a version by a different artist. This one, however, is the version I am most familiar with.

I realize this thread may not be visited by many others, but I felt compelled to start it on the 50th anniversary of John Coltrane's death.... he passed away on July 17th, 1967.

Big fan of Coltrane! How can you top A Love Supreme, Ole, and My Favorite Things (the whole albums)?

MadamSarcastra, over & out.
This is on local public radio right now... Nightside Jazz & Blues... Saturday is Blues Night....

May I please introduce you to Thornetta Davis, Detroit's Queen of the Blues... truly amazing... also a truly awesome, super sweet lady.... I've been to several of her gigs, our bands gigged at the same shows & festivals, my ex would go up & jam (on guitar) with her when possible.... outstanding.

This song's on now....

And a fun one.... ;)
